Visitor Information Screens for the Kaeserberg Museum
Building on our successful collaboration with Kaeserberg, we have developed a new interactive visitor information system using Next.js, gRPC and Rust. During the exhibition renovation of Kaeserberg, where the visitor experience has been significantly modernized, we had the opportunity to implement the digital components of the project designed by Pentagram. Since the reopening of the museum in May 2025, visitors can discover new interactive screens with detailed information about the trains, the possibility to follow them on live maps, information about special attractions on the model, and much more.
Functionalities The screens offer many different interactions:
- Interactive maps
- Image galleries
- Video galleries
- Physical interactions with lights and engines over relais
- gRPC updates for train localizations
Start of vetra
While working on these interactive displays, we recognized the broader challenge many museums face: creating engaging interactive exhibitions often requires complex technical expertise. This insight led us to develop vetra, an editor for digital screens that allows museums to create interactive applications without any coding knowledge. vetra transforms what was once a complex technical challenge into an accessible, user-friendly process.
